Description

Perhaps the good life is possible even when senselessness billows over you, when emptiness pours down. Or at least, you might catch a glimpse of it—joy. When stories without flesh and blood loose their magic, and the grace, you thought you knew, turns out to be but the reflection of your own fear.

Tóm rúm (Empty Spaces) is anguished search. The protagonists look into drawers, open and lock, fumble about and keep silent. Perhaps nothing is behind the curtain; perhaps there is no skeleton, no original sin, in the closet. But can the circus of homelessness be celebrated? Is it possible to create a gap, an empty space, where you can live and breathe?   ---
Marjun Syderbø Kjelnæs was born 30 April 1974 in Tórshavn.

Her first works appeared in the early 2000s, followed by a string of honours.

In 2012 she published Rót Tripp, a collection of poems, a work proving how she is breaking new lyrical grounds.

Tóm rúm is written in the same stylistic mood. The invisible bonds that tie people, generations and viewpoints together also erect invisible fences between people in spaces that somehow are empty.
